Own Their Own Home
Over seven hundred low income families in King, Pierce and Thurston counties,
Washington, have achieved their dreams of becoming home owners.
Mission
Assist economically disadvantaged households in King, Pierce and Thurston
counties in obtaining affordable housing.
History
Northwest Housing Development was founded by community leaders in 1970
as a public benefit non-profit corporation. We're a leading advocate for
creating the opportunity for qualified, low income households to own affordable
housing through the mutual efforts of households and ourselves. We're
the longest running mutual self-help and self-determination housing organization
in Washington and one of the oldest organizations of our type in the United
States.
Our team
members have the knowledge and experience to make it easier for households
to achieve their home ownership dreams. Every household receives an extensive
homeowners manual which includes detailed program information plus information
on property taxes, insurance and credit plus training and extensive technical
assistance. We're proud to provide a technical assistance
limited warranty on every home built by our clients.

States Department of Agriculture, Rural Development. Additional support

Warranty
Every homeowner receives a One Year Technical Assistance limited warranty.
This warranty provides for one year of technical assistance to fix problems
or provide assistance in working with subcontractors to fix covered problems.
In other words, if it's determined that the homeowner was initially responsible
for whatever caused the problem Northwest Housing Development will come
on-site to tell the homeowner how to fix the problem. If a subcontractor
was responsible for the problem Northwest Housing Development will assist
the homeowner arrange for the subcontractor to come out and fix the problem.
This warranty sets the standards for quality of construction and outlines
responsibilities for reviewing claims and making repairs.

for Mutual Self Help Housing.

the Year from King County Consortium.
Referrals
Past homeowner-builders who refer someone who closes a loan and begins
construction will receive a gift of $25.
